A blast from the past resurfaces for 2021 with the Nike Air Force 1 Low “I Believe” releasing in early Spring. 2019-2020 saw the G-Dragon Peaceminusone Para-noise in two colorways and for most, it introduced the idea of the tearaway upper. However, the K-Pop icon was far from the first to come up with this concept for the AF 1 Low. The “I Believe” dates back to 2002 as a Japan-exclusive release coinciding with the FIFA World Cup.
Revamped for 2021, the White lacquer coating the smooth leather upper paired with classic White accents breathes new life into the old design. Varsity Red tongue tab, mini-Swoosh on the vamp, insole Nike branding, Likewise, Red Japanese Daruma dolls on the lateral ankle and insole are truly striking. Crisp White tumbled leather makes up the tongue, quarter panel Swooshes, and heel counter matching the laces, sockliner, and Air midsole.
Moreover, once the lacquer coating wears away, wearers get treated to a full one Durama style upper. Additionally, Daruma dolls serve as a good luck charm and a symbol of perseverance, so it makes sense that the image of one reveals itself over time. Although there’s no word on a confirmed release date, sneakerheads can expect the Nike Air Force 1 Low “I Believe” sometime in early 2021.
